What to Know

Our wedding will feature several meaningful events, including pre-wedding celebrations on January 13th—Haldi, Sangeet, and Mehendi. Each of these traditions holds special significance in Kerala and Indian culture, with its own unique theme for attire. On this page, we’ve provided a guide to help you prepare for each event, along with outfit and color recommendations. Check out this link for an explanation of each part of the wedding!

Events & Colors

We recommend that guests plan for three outfits throughout our wedding. Below are the key events and our color recommendations. Please note, the only color we ask guests to avoid is black.

We’re excited to share details on traditional Indian attire for our wedding, but please feel free to wear Western-style clothing if that’s more comfortable for you. We can’t wait to see what you choose!

Option 1: Women

Saree

A saree is a traditional Indian garment, typically consisting of a long, unstitched piece of fabric, elegantly draped around the body, often worn with a blouse and petticoat.

Lehenga

A lehenga is a traditional Indian outfit consisting of a long, flowy skirt, usually paired with a fitted blouse (choli) and a dupatta, often worn for festive occasions or weddings.

Salwar Kameez

A salwar kameez is a traditional Indian outfit consisting of a long tunic (kameez) paired with loose-fitting pants (salwar) and often accompanied by a matching scarf or shawl (dupatta).

Indo Western

Indo-western outfits combine traditional Indian styles with Western fashion elements, creating a fusion look that often features modern cuts and fabrics with Indian embroidery or embellishments.

Option 1: Men

Mundu Set (Wedding)

A traditional piece of clothing worn by men in Kerala, typically a white or off-white, knee-length cotton garment wrapped around the waist and tied with a belt or knot, often paired with a shirt for formal or casual occasions.

A men's kurta is a traditional Indian garment, typically a knee-length tunic with a straight cut, often worn with pants like churidars or jeans, and can range from casual to formal styles.
